15 years ago, THERE had its premiere in Vilnius, as a part of New Baltic Dance Festival This year, the festival celebrates its 20th edition, and we are thrilled to be back to perform THERE as part of the festivals opening night. It feels like coming home.
East–European mini tour for THERE
For the first time in the company’s history we are visiting Ukraine! This week the cast and crew of There are going to be part of Zelyonka Fest Сontemporary Dance Festival in Kiev. We are really excited to show this particular production in this area of Europe right now. After the performance in Kiev, There moves on to the place where the journey started 15 years ago: New Baltic Dance in Vilnius, Lithuania.
Visiting Oslo's newly opened cultural hotspot
This Saturday, 16th April, Jo Strømgren Kompani will perform our children’s production The Kitchen at Sentralen in Oslo. Sentralen is Oslo’s newest performance venue, and the biggest workshop in the country for creative cultural and innovation forces. We are excited to be part of their Saturday children’s program!
The nurses are coming!
After a successful run in New York at The Abrons Arts Centre the nurses of The Hospital have now returned to Oslo, and are eagerly looking forward to the run at The Norwegian Opera and Ballet. Come see the performance the New York Times describes as " an absurdist nordic version of M.A.SH". It runs from the 5th through the 9th of April at Scene 2.
JSK at Festival Iberoamericano de Bogotá
This week our dancers from A Dance Tribute to Ping Pong have brought their puppet master to Bogotá! We are really excited to be part of the worlds largest theatre festival with two of our performances. The amazing Festival Iberoamericano de Bogotá in Colombia, is a spirited explosion of love of life and art, featuring 1250 performances and 3650 artist from all over the world.
The Kitchen at BRAVO Festival, Helsinki
Our brave performers have dived into a language completely different from Norwegian – and we are now superexcited to meet our young, Finnish audience.
The Kitchen performs four times this week during BRAVO Festival in Helsinki, a festival organized by Assitej Finland. Heippa hei!
JSK at Festival Iberoamericana de teatro de Bogota
We are superexcited to be part of the worlds largest theater festival with two of our performances. The amazing Festival Iberoamericana de Bogota, Columbia, is a spirited explosion of love of life and art, featuring 1250 performances and 3650 artist from all over the world. Our puppet performance The Writer, made in collaboration with Ulrike Quade Company (NL), performs this week in Bogota. "Perhaps the most passionate kiss between a puppet and a woman ever ", promises the festival.
Crazy nurses hits the New York stage
From the 9th to 12th March our 2005 success production The Hospital will get its revival, and it happens at Abrons Arts Center in New York City! The original cast of nurses are back, “[…] as stupid and clumsy as ever. And charming and good”, Jo Strømgren himself says.
