BACK THERE!

15 years ago, THERE had its premiere in Vilnius, as a part of New Baltic Dance Festival This year, the festival celebrates its 20th edition, and we are thrilled to be back to perform THERE as part of the festivals opening night. It feels like coming home.

New Baltic Dance is one of the main and most prestigious dance festivals in the Baltic Sea region. It is organized by Lithuanian Dance Information Centre and Vilnius Festivals. Each yearly May it takes place at different venues in Vilnius. For the first event in 1997 the festival team gathered participants mostly from the post-Soviet countries where contemporary dance had only been starting. Since then the number of guest countries increased significantly – the festival has presented companies from all Nordic and Baltic countries, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Israel, Canada, Slovenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Poland, Switzerland, Senegal. All in all mote than 170 companies from 25 countries have been programmed for the festival.

Jo Strømgren Kompani has a long history with New Baltic Dance and its director Audronis Imbrasas, it goes back to the very start of the company. Our first time at the festival was in 1999 with Masculine Mysteries, and since we have visited the festival numerous times, 9 of our productions have been performed there. So its with immense pleasure we celebrate the 20th edition of the festival with our revival of THERE.
