JSK is thrilled to be announcing that we are now making our first hardcore kids performance, in co-production with Brageteatret, Drammen. THE KITCHEN is a story about a sailor and an orphan, both equally stubborn, trying to make a living together.
From the 22nd of August until the 4th of September A Dance Tribute to the Art of Football is visiting Poland performing at venues in: Poznán, Pila, Bydgoszcz, Warsaw, Konin and Gniezno. This tour is a part of a longer collaboration between Jo Strømgren Company, Polish Dance Theatre and the Icelandic Association of Independent Theatres, and is supported by The Norwegian Arts Council.

Jo Strømgren Kompani has been invited to perform at the 18th International Baltic Ballet Festival in Latvia this April. The dancers and crew of A DANCE TRIBUTE TO THE ART OF FOOTBALL are in Toronto preparing for 4 performances at Harbourfront Centre this week. The new home venue for JSK in Oslo is now the Opera House. A long term agreement ensures approx 20 shows annually, both repertory and premieres. This coincides with Jo Strømgren’s appointment as Associated Choreographer with the Norwegian National Ballet. Audience accessibility is now at its best ever. Take your seats and enjoy the flight.
After performing A DANCE TRIBUTE TO THE ART OF FOOTBALL at the Festival Internacional de Ballet de La Habana, JSK has received the Cuban Critics Award PREMIO VILLANUEVA 2012. The jury verdict sounds:
“For the efficient combination of dance, humor, acting work, brilliant lighting and the general perception of the link between art and sport, in line with a poetic form of theatre that for the second time was presented to the Cuban audience”- referring to THE SOCIETY which performed in Havana in 2011 and gained the same award.
Jo Strømgren Kompani is starting 2013 off with a visit to Vinterlysfestivalen in Mo i Rana with THE BORDER, and in March there will be an unique chance for our Oslo audience to see A DANCE TRIBUTE TO PING PONG in Asker Kulturhus. In April we are heading towards Toronto, Canada to perform A DANCE TRIBUTE TO THE ART OF FOOTBALL at Harbourfront Center, and we also have a long production period ahead of us with no less then 4 premieres in 2013!
