BACK IN MONTREAL

For the first time since the successful full length showcase of THE SOCIETY at CINARS 2008, the company is back in Montreal this week with A DANCE TRIBUTE TO THE ART OF FOOTBALL at the Les Coups de Theatre festival for young audiences. The production from 1997 has toured in 22 countries and is approaching the 500-show milestone. However, this week marks the debut on the “Soccer” continent.

THE EXPERIMENT GOES 78? NORTH

The Russian mining settlement Barentsburg, Svalbard, with its 500 inhabitants will host a show of THE EXPERIMENT on Nov 10th. Kind requisition of helicopter transport from local authorities as well as generosity from “Kultur- og fritidsforetak KF” in Longyearbyen has made this possible. The trip also includes a show on Nov 12th in Longyearbyen, the northernmost city in the world. In Longyearbyen we are presented as part of the program marking the polar night season, “Kunstpause Svalbard 2010”.

RUN AT THE NATIONAL THEATRE in MADRID

Centro Dramático Nacional presents the company with an 8-show run of THE CONVENT and THE EXPERIMENT. October 21st to 24th at venue Teatro Valle-Inclán. Jo Strømgren will also hold talks with both professionals and audience.

A Rose d'Or for The Neighbour

Our film “The Neighbour” has won the prestigious 2010 Rose d’Or Award in the category “Arts Documentary & Performing Arts”.
The Rose d’Or is one of the most important annual events in the international television industry. Throughout its 50 year history, the festival’s goal has been to reward originality, quality, and creativity in entertainment programming, and to encourage excellence in television and new media.

The Writer awarded Best Play in Ljubljana!

Jo Strømgren Kompani´s co-production with Ulrike Quade Productions and Nordland visual theatre, THE WRITER, has won the best show award, the Little Prince, at the 2010 Lutke International Puppet Theatre Festival in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The Lutke Festival presents a selected number of puppet – performances from all over the world, both for adults and children.

NOMINATION FOR HEDDA AWARD

Ulrike Quade has been nominated for this year’s Norwegian Hedda Award in the ”Particular Artistic Achievement” category for her interpretation of THE WRITER. JSK has previously recieved the Hedda Award for THERE and GORRI-GORRI.

PREMIERE OF THE EXPERIMENT

Jo Strømgren Kompanis newest production “The Experiment” premiered in Rakvere, Estonia on May 3rd, and is now touring in the Baltics, Belarus, Russia and Poland. Norwegian premiere will be during Bergen International Festival on the 7th and 8th of June.

REHEARSING "THE EXPERIMENT"

Jo Strømgren Kompani is now preparing the 2010 production, ”The Experiment", on the theme of human test lab secrecy. The show is taking form as a grotesque but yet poetic portrayal of the horrors submitted by volunteers. The premiere is in Rakvere, Estonia on the 3rd of May with a following tour through the Baltics, Poland, Russia and Belarus. The first Norwegian stop is at the Bergen International Festival on the 7th and 8th of June.
