THE AUCTION - premiere this fall!

Jo Strømgren Kompani presents our new performance “The Auction” this fall – premiering in Trondheim at Trondheim Chamber Music Festival, followed by more shows at The Norwegian Opera and Ballet in Oslo

“The Auction” is an associative fable about objects we know but no longer have a relationship with. With abstract dance and newly composed music, the audience is invited to dig up their own memories and perhaps create new ones during the performance. As a modest tribute to the past, the performance can also be experienced as a commentary on today’s material overconsumption.

“The Auction” is a completely new flower in Jo Strømgren Kompani’s large repertoire bouquet. Where the company usually emphasizes storytelling, often with humor and theatricality, this time they present a more meditative journey of association and reflection. The performance is a collaboration with Trondheim Chamber Music Festival and Bergmund Waal Skaslien, initiator of the performance’s theme and concept, and the company’s composer for almost 30 years.
